The Slum Film Festival (SFF) is an innovative community-based film event, featuring stories from, by, and about people living in urban slums everywhere.
The Slum Film Festival was founded in 2011. It is an initiative of the Hot Sun Foundation based in Kibera and Slum TV based in Mathare, supported by the Embassy of Spain and the Spanish Agency for International Cooperation. The Festival focuses on films made by and about the slums. This imitative does not seek to legitimize the existence of these informal human settlements but aims to change people's perspectives towards these spaces and show that they are home to talented, creative and culturally active actors.
