Dr Bethwell Allan Ogot (born 1929)  known as B.A. Ogot  is a noted Kenyan and Luo historian. He is currently the Chancellor of Moi University.
Ogot was born in Gem Locationof Central Nyanza Province, Kenya, and was educated at Ambira, Maseno Secondary School, Makerere University College, and the University of St Andrews before doing post-graduate work at the School of Oriental and African Studies, University of London. He has been chairman of the History Department of the University College, Nairobi, edited Volume V of UNESCO's History of Africa, and presided over the committee that oversaw the production of the entire History. He is the incumbent Chancellor of Moi University, Eldoret.
In 1959 he married the author  Grace Emily Akinyi.
