The 34th edition of the Carthage Film Festival,

scheduled from October 28th to November

4th, 2023, with its customary official

competitions reserved for new artistic

creations from African and Arab countries, will

shine a spotlight this year on two countries.

On one hand, Senegal, the guest country of

the event, whose cinema has been a loyal

companion throughout the historical journey of

the JCC, dating back to the first Golden

Tanit of the festival won in 1966 by Ousmane

Sembene for "La Noire de.."


On the other hand, there's Jordan, the subject

of Focus 2023, putting a spotlight on this

emerging Arab cinema, known for the quality

of its films and the new initiatives in place to

support it.

The celebration of these two cinematic

traditions will be accompanied by the

presence of significant delegations and will

feature tributes to prominent figures. The

program will go beyond film screenings and

include events related to other cultural

expressions from these two countries.

As one of the prominent African film festivals,The JCC, has consistently shown its support for independent African cinema and its notable figures.
📣In line with this commitment, the 34th edition of the festival,has appointed the esteemed Chadian filmmaker, Mahamat Saleh Haroun, as the jury head for both long and short feature films, as well as animation.
✨The 21st edition Silver Tanit winner for "Daratt",Mahamat Saleh Haroun, holds the distinction of being one of the select few directors to inaugurate the Carthage Film Festival twice, with his films "A Screaming Man" (2010) and "Lingui, The Sacred Bonds" (2021).
✨The Chadian director has previously participated in the Carthage Film Festival with several of his films in official competitions and parallel sections.
