I am called Alfred Anangwe, a Kenyan, coordinating a new program called Kenya Oral History project of the Kenya Oral history Consult. Kenya Oral History Consult is a non-governmental organization newly registered (one month old) which was formed to carry out five main duties namely:

1. to conduct oral interviews from Kenyans who are elderly
2. to archive these histories for researchers
3. to train students and scholars on how to conduct oral interviews with use of modern equipment
4. to assist researchers in conducting interviews on topics of their
interest
5. to secure what has already been recorded about Kenya orally

In our mandate, we are constrained on various fronts, but chiefly on capacity (skills for interviewing and use of new recording technologies) as well as shortage of recording technology/equipment. We appeal for support on these two main areas and would like to invite any assistance in this direction. Any suggestions for assistance will be highly
appreciated.
