Murfy's fLaW

Murfy's fLaw is a Kenyan alternative rock band based in Nairobi, Kenya formed in 2007. The band consists of 6 members' vocalist Reema, lead guitarist Number 9, rhythm guitarist Punky Monkey, pianist Jojo, bassist Jozie and drummer Njeri.The band has a varied musical style, fusing traditional rock with elements of funk, reggae and spicy touch of authentic Kenyan sounds.

The roots of Murfy's fLaw lie in the band Kill What You Eat, a group that was first formed in Montreal Canada in 2006. After Kill What You Eat split, Reema, Number 9, JB and Vicky formed a new band, Murphy's fLaW in 2007. Later in 2007, Murphy's fLaW changed the spelling of the band name to Murfy's fLaW to avoid legal battles on finding out that the band name was already taken by an American bluegrass band.

The band's first big break was when they held their first concert at the GoDown Art Centre which was covered by MTV Base.  From this point, the band began to get more main stream gigs, playing alongside Kenyan greats like Eric Wainaina, Double Take and Olith Ratego.

The band released their debut album "MAKOSA" in 2008
and their second Album titled "Hello Light' in 2011.

Band achievements include
• Breast Cancer Awareness Ambassadors – the band was selected to perform at the pink ribbon event as ambassadors during the Breast Cancer awareness month October.
• Battle of the Bands Winner – October 2007
• Battle of the Bands Winner – April 2008
