A la manière d'un journal intime, le réalisateur explore l'Afrique du Sud post-apartheid, guidé par Dumsani, un jeune Noir de Soweto enthousiaste et ambitieux. Au hasard des rencontres et des lieux, de Johannesburg à Soweto, la découverte d'une société en mutation politique et sociale mais toujours habitée par son passé raciste.
