In December 2004, the Boyd Report recommended religious arbitration on questions of family rights in Ontario. This led to the setting up of Islamic courts that could apply Sharia Law, directly inspired by the Koran, which oversees all activities of practicing Muslims. But its interpretation varies from country to country and culture to culture. So which version for Canada? In September 2005, Canadian Prime Minister Dalton McGuinty outlawed all religious arbitration, be it Muslim, Jewish or Christian. During these 10 months, a heated debate rocked the country. With the aid of numerous participants of different opinions and backgrounds, this documentary raises a central question: what is the opinion of those most concerned, the Muslims women, since according to Sharia law, women generally remain under the legal authority of their fathers, brothers or husbands?
