Rainmaker Ltd is proud to present this May edition of L.AT.E, as it highlights two amazing musicians from the coastal region of Kenya.
Hailing from the coastal town of Watamu in Malindi, Bado was born Mohamed Said Ngana acording to his Ketebul bio.

Mr Bado began his career in 1994 whilst still a high school student, having been inspired by the infectious Mwanzele, Chakacha and Taarab genres prevalent at the coast and reminiscent of bygone music by the Mijikenda community.
He credits his father Mzee Nyere wa Konde a renowned Mwanzele repository and singer for giving him a foothold in the craft. Other notable influences as cited by him include Mzee Maulid and the late Juma Bhalo.

He has graced a number of podiums, but this will be his inaugural performance at the LATE podium. Come expecting rigorous jigs, catchy sounds and vibrancy reminiscent of the sun and sand kissed region of the coast.

Nyota Ndogo needs no introduction in Kenya. Her songs have been a staple on the airwaves for eons, owing to the fact that her lyrics resonate with so many across East Africa.

Born Mwanaisha Abdalla, this musician rose from humble beginnings as a house-help to the renowned brand that she is today. Her poignant lyricism, affable nature and mellifluous voice has have set her apart from her peers as an artiste that cuts across different age groups, a rarity in Kenya. Her voice is akin to the sweet melody the birds sing at the crack of dawn.

Hailing from a musical family, her dad Abdalla Atib was also a musician with a local band. She however credits the now defunct K-South Hiphop outfit for stirring in her the voracious passion for the stage and studio. Celebrated and feted for her gift, she has toured far and wide across the globe singing and connecting with die-hard fans, She has four albums under her belt: Chereko, Nimetoka Mbali, Mpenzi and "Mama Wakambo"

Her Taarab-esque pop music and lilting Swahili is bound to impress avid fans of coastal music so mark your calendar.
