Trained as an illustrator, Kyalo's initial work was mainly figurative and he has over the years found his Alma matter in abstraction. His inspiration is drawn from a variety of media: music, colour, light, fashion and photography. Kyalo's paintings undergo multiple variations of colour and textural juxtapositions that are reworked until they are harmonized.
This exhibition is inspired by the instinctive travel and trade among the Kamba people, retracing the Kamba's historical trails to the Kenyan Coast where upon they encountered portals on reaching the Indian Ocean.
