The struggle against terrorism has highlighted the threats to freedom of expression. On the one hand, media practitioners risk violence from those who may take offense to articulation of some opinions. On the other hand, authorities claim that a restriction of rights is necessary to maintain societal security. In protecting one, there is always the risk of undermining the other.
