In the comedy 'Art,' Yasmina Reza's central character buys a completely white painting for 200,000 francs. His best friend Marc cannot believe that he has done anything so silly and feels as though their friendship cannot survive as a result. Ivan, a friend of both tries to mediate and save the friendship with unexpected results. Over the course of an evening, the three men's discussion becomes a war zone as everyone reveals long buried resentments and fears.

'Art ' is a French-language play, a dazzling comedy by Yasmina Reza which received the Moliere award for best play, best production and best author. It premiered on 28 October 1994 at Comédie des Champs-Élysées in Paris. The English-language adaptation, translated by Christopher Hampton, opened in London's West End on 15 October 1996.
