ShujaazFM won their second International Emmy Award in Cannes, French Riviera on April 7th! This is the second time they have won the category Outstanding Digital Program: Children and Young People at the International Emmy Awards.

ShujaazFM is a monthly comic book publication written in sheng (the contemporary slang language of the Kenyan youth) that was launched in Kenya in February 2010.The monthly comic book is accompanied by daily FM radio programmes, TV animations, text messaging and internet. The comic is supported by a range of commercial sponsors and development agencies keen to get useful messages out to young people. The stories progress by the adventures of four regular characters, DJ Boyie (whose private radio show is heard daily on real FM stations);Maria Kim, Charlie Pele and Malkia who listen everyday and call in with stories and ideas of their own for him to share. Together these 4 heroes reveal tried and tested ideas about making money, growing up, good farming, getting jobs and about citizenship and democracy.

They are committed to inspiring and motivating millions of Kenyans to take action to improve their lives and engage with urgent issues that shape their future. The comic is written and drawn by young Kenyans based in Nairobi. It is distributed by The Saturday Nation newspaper and in rural areas through Safaricom's M-Pesa agents and is believed to be the first monthly publication in sheng.

ShujaazFM has come a long way since their 2012 award, now they work to co-create with their audience by folding their stories back into all media.
